and once again...

It's been awhile so I have more TV thoughts to expound upon because as well know...TV is what I do best.

In no particular order:

1. Dear 30 Rock...I know it's fun to mock Liz Lemon but this season it's getting out of hand. I am, possibly, internalizing it too much, but when loyal, lovable Floyd calls Liz Lemon a badger I think you've gone too far.

2. Additionally 30 Rock, I'm not laughing as much as I used to. Don't get me wrong. I still laugh-specifically last week when you made the pranksters get naked and they were all screaming like girls, but I'm not rolling around in hysterics over every single of minute like I used to. That makes me sad. I depended on 30 Rock for the absurdist, surreal and just flat out manic laughs that it delivered Seasons 1 through 3.

3. I know some BSG fans don't like Caprica. I am not one of them. I have watched each episode of Caprica at least 3 times. It may be Eric Stoltz & Esai Morales & Sasha Roiz & that adorable boy who played Heracles (RIP Heracles), but I have a huge hard on for this show. That being said, waiting until October for a new episode seems like cruel and unusual punishment. I know this is your 'schedule' SyFy, but it sucks. It sucked when you did it to BSG, and it sucks even more now.

What is so bad about showing 13 episodes all at one time? It certainly doesn't harm viewer's affection for Damages, Rescue Me, and/or Sons of Anarchy.

4. Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is not a bad show. I appreciate the educational aspects of it...my problem is with the editing. Way too many artificial segments. Same with Kitchen Nightmares. Reality TV is what it is, but the editing and the forced situations really begin to bug after all.

5. Speaking of Kitchen Nightmares, I know that the producers are probably egging these poor chefs/owners on for dramatic purposes but damn...does anyone ever admit to cooking crappy food? I make mistakes all the time, and I admit to them. It's like during the auditions of American Idol when they tell someone that they cannot sing very well and the first reaction is, 'You don't know what you're talking about. I'm fabulous.' I just don't get it. If Chef Ramsay is sitting in your restaurant, then someone applied to be on the show because something is wrong with your restaurant-just admit it. However, after watching many episodes of 'Nightmares' I am wondering if Ramsay purposely picks apart the food in each restaurant. Although, I did watch him exalt over a carrot cake so I guess he isn't lying.

6. I don't know many people who watch Southland. Not sure why except that it wasn't on long enough last year, but, if you're missing it, you should be sad. It's one of the most compellingly subtle police dramas I've ever seen. There is nothing heavy-handed about the way it's shot, cast, written, or directed. In fact, there are instances where you forget you're watching fiction and begin to believe these actors are cops. All the exposition is given through dialogue (similar to Mamet but not as verbose) and characterization. This past week's episode saw Office John Cooper (my favorite) come out to his partner in the most moving, sincere scene I've ever seen on television.

7. I tried to give up on "Life Unexpected" because I had had it with Lux getting angry at Cate & Baze for the millionth time in a row. Of course, as soon as I decided that, Cate, Baze, and Lux went to family therapy, and it was a damn good moment of honesty. So there you go, every time I try to leave a TV show, they pull me back in. Except they lost me yet again this past Monday's episode. I have a new theory: for every three episodes of non-momentum, there is one episode that actually propels the characters forward. God help you if you miss that one episode, right?

8. My predictions for DWTS: Maks & Erin are so hitting it; Evan Lysacek will win; and Kate Gosselin will hopefully explain if she had the dance studio in her house built before or after she agreed to go on DWTS. And after our first results show, I have to cry foul, I just know the producers rigged Shannen's ouster. It's just all too convenient isn't it? You've got Kate Gosselin and Pamela Anderson making this you're most watched season ever so there's no way you're getting rid of them, right?
Mark Ballas gets injured...there is just no way that Shannen Doherty had less audience support than Kate Gosselin.

9. Did anyone but my friend, Melly, and I watch Little House on the Prairie? How can you be our age and not know who Frank & Jesse James are? Besides the Little House episode, there have been numerous references to them in film, music, and literature. Hell, there was a Colin Farrell movie made 10 years ago (maybe less-I don't know-I'm not looking it up) that was all about the James Gang. My 40-year old sister didn't get a Frank James reference. My 38 year old friend didn't get a Jesse & Frank James reference. I blame Sandra Bullock's husband for usurping the legend.

10. I think my favorite part of this last season of 'Lost' is the use of the many guest stars over the past five years. Like tonight when Andrew Divoff showed up in the sideways timeline, in addition to Kevin Durand and William Mapother. I am dying though for the MC Gainey appearance. It has to be good, right?

That is all for now.
