notes on a grammy telecast that never ended (or felt that way at least)
I'm going to do this here because I need a blog post for today and can't think of anything to write other than:
1.) how sick I am
2.) how destructive my new meds are to my body
3.) how depressed I am
4.) how many times I have cried today
So let's talk about The Grammys, bitches!
I have no idea what Bruce Springsteen sang, and I was too busy trying to find a working link to download OUAT so whatever.
So like LL was talking about how you have one Grammy moment that you "always" remember. I swear to you that I cannot, for the life of me, remember watching last year's Grammys. I was probably drunk.
Cool that LL Cool J led the audience in a prayer, however, the people in the audience that the camera panned weren't bowing their heads. For SHAME you godless heathens.
Who's the bearded dude sitting next to Adele? The inspiration for the album after the next one? (I crack myself up)
I feel sorry for the guys in Bruno Mars' band who have to dance while they play. Also, I'm not a huge BM fan but you'll be hearing that A LOT tonight because I'm old and Wham isn't nominated tonight.
It's only 8:23pm, and I'm already losing interest. This is going to be a long telecast, huh?
This Chris Brown performance is AWFUL. Like, is this singing? God, whatever happened to talent?
Also, because all of my East Coast tweeps are still tweeting about the Grammys means that it's running late. ARGH.
In unrelated rambling, I just turned the channel to OUAT and Robert Carlyle is KILLING it. I love Robert Carlyle so much.
Oh, I just remembered watching last year's Grammys. My only memory is of the whole Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons thing with Bob Dylan. Nothing else sticks out.
I'm getting really sick of hearing "Music's Biggest Night". Stop with this insane attempt at branding your show something cool.
I think I would be enjoying this awards show if I were drinking. Sadly, I have not had a drop of alcohol since New Year's Eve.
I am dying of thirst.
I don't quite get why the Foo Fighters are performing outside. Were they worried that it would be too loud for the people in the audience? Also, have they ever given a bad performance? Sheesh.
Nothing snarky to say about Rhianna and Chris Martin/Coldplay mostly because I thought both performances were boring.
God. Dave Grohl never makes a false move does he? Truth.
I was rather surprised that I enjoyed the Beach Boys tribute as much as I did. Even Adam Levine sounded faboo. Still not a big fan of Mike Love, but, you know, I have had my Brian Wilson experience so it's not like I'll be going to their reunion tour anyway.
Foster the People just needs to make music for me. Alone. In bed.
Um, don't know who The Civil War is but the guy was funny. Taylor Swift gets on my nerves, but she is a hell of a songwriter.
And I have tried twice to download tonight's 'Walking Dead' episode and both times it has destroyed my laptop. I give up. I'm so irritated I'm not even going to watch the rest of the season which works out well because I didn't watch the beginning of the season either.
Okay, just wiki'd The Civil Wars. Apparently it's Wars, not War. I apologize. I might just check their shit out.
Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley are the new Abbott & Costello! (my first truly funny joke of the night - I even posted it on Twitter - you're welcome)
That Adele performance was everything and a bag of chips and a liter of soda.
In addition to no alcohol, I also have trouble keeping anything down on these new meds so I'm FUCKING hungry.
Glen Campbell sounds remarkable. Really. the voice sounds much like it did in his younger days and considering his demons, that's remarkable.
Pretty sure that if we cut out Ken Erlich's speech, we would be enjoying this damn show more. Although, I had the TV muted while he was talking and missed the whole in memorial thing as well Jennifer Hudson. Whoops.
I wish I understood even in the slightest way why everyone loves Chris Brown so much.
Totally have to admit that this show has exhausted me and KCET is showing "Local Hero" so I'm finishing this up unless something "AMAZING" (quoting the annoying announcer who promised an "AMAZING NIKKI MINAJ PERFORMANCE" like 3 hours ago.
So glad I stuck around for the exorcism!
And that's it for the Grammys this year. Hopefully with this blog post, I'll remember next year that I actually did watch the Grammys.
SOBER.
