French...
Films not the kissing.
Pervs.
So just how many French films does one have to watch in one day before one becomes fluent? Or at least be able to say, "Die Motherfucker!"? I was doing a marathon yesterday of the French films I have in-house or French-themed films (yeah, I ended up watching "Passion of Mind" - I am aware I am the only person in the world who owns this film but I stand by it-damn good film). Then I checked the Netflix Instant page for their French films. This led me to ask the question on Twitter?
How long would it take me for to watch every film listed on the Instant Watch French films page?
It's six pages long, and I have already seen some of them, but this idea intrigues me. I'll need rules for myself. Also, I'll need several loafs of bread or baguettes, soft cheeses, and cigarettes.
French films make me hungry, thirsty, and smokey apparently.
Here are some rules I've come up with:
- I will watch the films as they're listed on Netflix's page but, in cases of like sequels, I am allowed to watch out of order (for example, the Mesrine films).
- Even if I've seen the films, I will watch again for the challenge to be fair.
- There is no time limit but I do vow to watch 4-5 films a day depending on my doctor visits, errands, and current TV watching (because I don't want to get behind in 'The Voice' again - God Forbid)
- Will post a recap with brief or long summaries of what I watched here.
- I had some other rules but I fell back asleep this morning watching "Paris Je'Taime" which then lead to a "Sons of Anarchy" nightmare (don't ask-it was bizarre) and now I've forgotten everything.
Anyway, I'll keep thinking, will update rules as they come to me (I'm open to suggestions), and will start on Monday - mostly because tomorrow is GoT Day!!!
Here is a list of my favorite French films.
1. "Jean de Florette"/"Manon of the Spring"
2. "Indochine"
3. "Olivier, Olivier"
4. "Les Pacte des Loups" aka "The Brotherhood of the Wolf"
5. "Them"
6. "Irreversible"
7. "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not"
8. "Amelie"
9. "A Very Long Engagement"
10. "Cache"
11. "Tell No One"
12. "Apres Vous"
